Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence

Welcome to Nrityamala 2017 on Saturday, June 10th
Annual recital program of Kalanjali School of Dance.

We are proud to proclaim that Kalanjali has completed 20 years of teaching Bharatnatyam and Semi Classical Dances. Through Kalanjali, Sudha Devulapalli has endeavored to nurture a love of the arts and culture among many children in our community.

Nrityamala is a display of the lessons that students of Kalanjali have learnt over the year. The format of the program follows the Bharatnatyam margam that begins with a Ganesha Prayer followed by Pushpanjali, Jathiswaram, Shabdam, Varnam, Padams and Thillana.

At every Nrityamala, Sudhaji presents a spectacular dance drama based on mythology to educate students about the rich heritage and deep religious teachings India has to offer. Through the preparation for the program, students are exposed to the great epics of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagwatham and stories of other prominent Gods.
2015 dance drama Trinetra received wide acclaim and huge response from not only the Kalanjali community but from all the guests and sponsors that had attended the event.

This year Kalanjali proudly presents Vandeham Krishna, a composition showing different stages of Lord Krishna’s life, such as an infant eating butter; a young boy playing a flute; a young man with Radha or surrounded by women devotees; a rescuer of Draupadi, or as a friendly charioteer giving counsel to Arjuna.

The anecdotes and narratives of Krishna's life are titled as Krishna Leela. He is a central character in the Bhagavata Purana and his presence in the hindu epic Mahabharatha as a charioteer/counsellor of Pandava Prince Arjuna who refuses to enter the battlefield of Kurukshetra from the fear of shedding his families’ blood led to the teachings of Bhagavad Gita.

Our sponsors have been our greatest support. We are ever grateful to New York Life, Ohm Designs, Syer Consulting who have been our platinum sponsors for the past few years.

Please bring your family and friends to Nrityamala 2017 and be a part of our celebration.

Thank You.
