Classical

 

1. Bharatnatyam Training

2.  

• Classical track training is approximately 6-8 years and consists of Pushpanjali, Allaripu, Kouthvam, Jathiswaram,  Shabdam, Varnam, Padam1, Padam2, Padam3 and Thillana with an option for Arangetram.

• This class meets once a week, and students are given the opportunity to perform at classical dance programs. 

• The completion of the course is solely dependent on the students ability and determination.

 

1. Arangetram Training

2.  

• This track is offered to only students that have completed the entire course and are ready for an Arangetram.

• The eligibility to perform an Arangetram is determined by the teacher. It comprises of one year rigorous training on a one-on-one basis with a teacher.

• The scheduling of classes, contract/fee details for this event are to be worked out with the teacher at the appropriate time

 

 

​Semi Classical

 

1.  

• This track will train students to dance for movie/Folk/Bhajans songs with a semi classical touch.

• The songs can be in any language and parents are welcome to bring in songs that they think are suitable for the kids to perform.

• Screening will be done on the songs and the final decision on whether the kids will perform to the song is contingent upon the teacher’s approval.  

• These dances are taught separately from classical and have a separate fee structure. 

• The only exception is if the entire batch is willing to learn a semi-classical item and in which case the item is taught during regular class time.

 

 

​SAMVED Exam Classes

 

•  Kalanjali also offers its students the opportunity to take Bharatnatyam exams conducted  by Samved conservatory(www.madhyam.usa) in April  and November every year.

• Students are required to give an exam once a year. 

• This will yield them a diploma in  Bharatnatyam after 5 years. 

• Separate exam classes will be conducted outside of the regular class schedule unless the entire class decides to take the exam

Notes:

 

• Classical and Semi Classical training will give the students an opportunity to perform at various programs and competetions.

• Decision to participate in extra events is left to the choice of the students and their parents.

              Student Teachers

• Student teachers assist Mrs.Sudha in some of the classes. In the event that the teacher is not able to take a class, student teachers conduct the classes.

• They are senior students that are either done with their arangetrams or very close to completion of the course. Hence are highly trained and disciplined students.
